Documented “Real News”: Trump Has Enabled White Supremacists And Has Their Support
By Doug Cunningham
Trump’s initially muted response to the domestic terrorism of white supremacists in Charlottesville shouldn’t be surprising giving his racist enabling of neo-Nazis and neo-KKK factions from day one of his campaign.
Media Matters’ Chris Harrington.
[Craig Harrington]: “The people who formed so much of his vocal online support – so much of his base in what developed into the ‘alt right ‘ and these neo-Nazi fringes and these white supremacist fringes. They jumped on the Trump bandwagon on Day One.”
Neo Nazis like Richard Spencer, who held a gathering in
Washington DC when Trump won the election to proclaim “Heil Trump! has said ““Trump Thinks Like Me. … Do You Think It’s A Coincidence That Everybody Like Me Loves Trump And Supports Him?”
Harrington says the media has a heavy responsibility in their ongoing coverage of the white supremacist/neo Nazi movement and Trump’s enabling of that movement.
[Craig Harrington]: “What we need is for media outlets to remember the outrage, remember the shock, remember the horror that we face with Heather Heyer’s murder. And re-deploy that in every instance when this bubble back up. Because it will probably not be the last time that we have to have this conversation.
And that, in itself, is just stunning.”
